There has been a buzz in the air ever since Netflix aired the first season of Th1rteen R3asons Why. The subject matter revolving around bullying and teen suicide is emotionally disturbing to some. TRW has, however, raised awareness of this important and increasing problem in American society.
Our modern society is undoubtedly playing a role and should change in a meaningful way to counteract this unfortunate trend.
Different, by Doxter S, is a touching and sensitive ballad that gets right to the center of this problem: American teenagers are caught in the nexus between childhood and adulthood, without always having the emotional anchor needed to remain stable. The lyrics, sung by a female lead, don’t indicate the subject’s gender. This first verse clearly describes the idea of transition, starting with a birthday party. This is followed by a haunting reference to the type of detachment felt when self-importance begins to wane. “People look though you like you’re not even there, like you are lighter than air, a wisp of smoke”. This theme of detachment is repeated throughout the song. The Chorus, also repeated throughout, paints a simple picture of an individual not fitting in: “You’re different from the luck ones. How can you stay in this place…this life?” We learn the subject has been keeping a private journal that has now beome public.

The Navajo and Hopi residents continue a tradtion of devotion and reverence to this wondrous landscape.
Canyons by Doxter S captures the spirit of the canyon lands and its people in a song based on the Native Flute. The melody uses a simple pentatonic scale in a minor key. The percussion is a Native Hand Drum. The female vocalist sings sweetly. The lyrics contrast a modern day romance with the centuries old story of the people inhabiting this spectacular place. The Hopi pray and dance for rain. Kokopelli plays his Magic Flute. The singer refers to her lover, once upon a time together hiking, rafting, and camping here. Then the flame went out. It ended much too soon.

Doxter S created this original Hip Hop song, inspired by Piccolo Walzer, after making the following statement to a fellow musician: “Never argue with a Soprano”. So what is the connection with Diva by Doxter S? It turns out the word Soprano isn’t easy to use in the lyrics. So the original inspiration was transformed into “Never argue with a Diva”, and the theme from the operatic song is carried into the story line. The style transformed to Hip Hop. Diva is already getting airplay on The Real92HipHop. The official video is engaging and entertaining.
Starting with a simple piano rendition of Piccolo Valzer, the piano is next backed by a synthesizer and the all male chorus sings Diva Aria Mine”. The verse, spoken by Doxter S, is backed by the Soprano voice haunting off stage:
