Butterfly by Doxter S started out sounding like a nursery rhyme song. The opening melody is very fanciful and sweet. The quintessential nature of the butterfly is her transformation from caterpillar during metamorphosis. This transformation needed expression in music.

We were seated at a local Family Restaurant in McLean, Virginia and noticed the middle of the benches were higher. We laughed because we have a similar hump in the middle of our well used bed at home. I described it as a Mountain between us and we both laughed.

I decided that was enough to write a song describing the way couples can become separated even when they are together. This is a very soulful, melancholy love song that I sing with acoustic guitar.

The MASC Awards Night Gala was held on Sunday January 22, 2017 at Jammin’ Java in Vienna, Virginia. This was a wonderful event presenting many new singer-songwriters to the DC Metro area public.
