Lyrics

MET HER ON A SUMMER DAY
SHE SMILED AND ASKED IF I COULD STAY
HAD NOTHING PLANNED FOR ANYWAY
NOTHING AT ALL

SHE WAS A DANCER BALLET TRAINED
I WORE OLD DENIMS TORN AND STAINED
WITH NOTHING VENTURED NOTHING GAINED
NOTHING AT ALL
NOTHING AT ALL NOTHING AT ALL

FUNNY HOW THINGS START OUT FINE
BREAD AND CHEESE A GLASS OF WINE
BUT NOTHING STAYS FRESH OVER TIME
NOTHING AT ALL

LIFE DOESN'T GIVE A WARNING SIGN
POSSESSIONS START TO UNDERMINE
EVERYTHING HERS AND NOTHING MINE
NOTHING AT ALL
NOTHING AT ALL NOTHING AT ALL

THERE WERE GOOD TIMES WHEN WE WERE YOUNG
PLACES WE'VE SEEN THINGS THAT WE'VE DONE
NOW WE WITHDRAW WHEN WE ARE STUNG
WHERE WE FOUND LOVE NOW THERE IS NONE

LATE AT NIGHT WE TALKED IN BED
SHE HAD DECEPTION IN HER HEAD
I JUST CLOSED MY EYES AND SAID
NOTHING AT ALL

FUNNY HOW THINGS END THAT WAY
LIVE SEPARATE LIVES FROM DAY TO DAY
NOW THERE'S NOTHING LEFT TO SAY
NOTHING AT ALL
NOTHING AT ALL NOTHING AT ALL

THE LAST TIME SHE SPOKE TO ME
SHE JUST WANTED TO BE FREE
THERE WAS NOTHING LEFT FOR ME
NOTHING AT ALL

THEY SAY IT POURS BEFORE IT RAINS
WE SPEAK BEFORE WE USE OUR BRAINS
NOW NOTHING OF OUR LOVE REMAINS
NOTHING AT ALL
NOTHING AT ALL NOTHING AT ALL

Don’t Ever Tease Me by Doxter S

Don’t Ever Tease Me by Doxter S is one of the early original compositions. The snappy beat and catchy melody are perfect for the New Indie genre that was becoming very popular in 2012.

Liner Notes

Don’t Ever Tease Me is inspired by the collective romantic experiences of a group of Tulane University college graduates over the span of 4 years. The vocalist is Katelyn from Studio Pros in LA. The melody and lyrics have a bittersweet quality, while the overall impression is one of a woman in charge of her affairs.

Lyrics

PLEASE SAY YOU WANT ME DON'T EVER LEAVE ME
PLEASE SAY YOU NEED ME BUT DON'T EVER TEASE ME
YOU KNOW YOU LOVE ME STRONGLY AND DEEPLY
KNOW WHAT EXCITES ME YOU KNOW HOW TO PLEASE ME

DON'T TELL ANY LIES LOOK IN MY EYES
SAY THAT YOU'LL NEVER LEAVE ME
PLEASE LISTEN TO ME SAY YOU AGREE
WE WILL FOREVER BE IN LOVE

SAY YOU'LL LOVE ME FROM THE START
SAY YOU'LL NEVER BREAK MY HEART

PLEASE TELL ME TRULY SOFTLY AND SWEETLY
YOU LOVE ME ONLY YOU LOVE ME COMPLETELY
SHOW ME YOU LOVE ME NO ONE ABOVE ME
WE'LL BE TOGETHER NOW AND FOREVER

PLEASE STAY BY MY SIDE YOU MUST DECIDE
SAY THAT YOU'LL NEVER LEAVE ME
PLEASE LISTEN TO ME SAY YOU AGREE
WE WILL FOREVER BE IN LOVE

PROMISE YOU WON'T MAKE ME CRY
CROSS YOUR HEART AND HOPE TO DIE

Butterfly

Butterfly by Doxter S started out sounding like a nursery rhyme song. The opening melody is very fanciful and sweet. The quintessential nature of the butterfly is her transformation from caterpillar during metamorphosis. This transformation needed expression in music.

Daybreak

Daybreak by Doxter S is a madrigal style polyphonic composition with 3 vocalists accompanied by piano, cello, violin, and music box.

Dancers

Dancers by Doxter S is a dance fantasy with a latin beat. This song evokes the nightlife in Buenos Aires, Argentina and the tango dancing that originated there.

Form a Line

This upbeat song has more energy and less sweetness (than my last wedding song) and will get everyone crowding the dance floor dancing vigorously singing and shouting along with the band.

Amazing by Doxter S

Doxter S has taken inspiration from “Amazing Grace” to create a totally new and original song simply entitled “Amazing”. Sung by a choir, with instrumental accompaniment, Amazing by Doxter S picks up the tempo and lifts the spirit even higher than ever before possible.

This is an upbeat revival style song that echoes the traditional song Amazing Grace in one refrain, but has it’s own upbeat character that will bring the entire congregation to its feet.

Amazing by Doxter S uses pounding percussion, lively hand claps, a variety of spiritual verses, and unforgettable chorus sections. The church organ, electric bass, and electric piano join tied percussion section in support of the choir. The effect is, in a word, Amazing!

Mountain by Doxter S

We were seated at a local Family Restaurant in McLean, Virginia and noticed the middle of the benches were higher. We laughed because we have a similar hump in the middle of our well used bed at home. I described it as a Mountain between us and we both laughed.

I decided that was enough to write a song describing the way couples can become separated even when they are together. This is a very soulful, melancholy love song that I sing with acoustic guitar.

Everywhere by Doxter S is an upbeat, latin rhythm, inspirational song dedicated to a very happy new couple starting out their new life together with a dance and a promise to keep traveling and dancing together, leaving behind all the worries and complications of daily life.

Dorian by Doxter S is a musical interpretation of the Gothic novel by Oscar Wilde – “The Picture of Dorian Gray”. Dorian appears at various times and places chasing after a dream-like companion. The mood is mysterious, the music intoxicating, and at the end Dorian and the music fades away.

Some Reasons Why You Should Like Different by Doxter S

There has been a buzz in the air ever since Netflix aired the first season of Th1rteen R3asons Why.
Different, by Doxter S, is a touching and sensitive ballad that gets right to the center of this problem: American teenagers are caught in the nexus between childhood and adulthood, without always having the emotional anchor needed to remain stable. The lyrics, sung by a female lead, don’t indicate the subject’s gender. This first verse clearly describes the idea of transition, starting with a birthday party. This is followed by a haunting reference to the type of detachment felt when self-importance begins to wane. “People look though you like you’re not even there, like you are lighter than air, a wisp of smoke”.
This theme of detachment is repeated throughout the song. The Chorus, also repeated throughout, paints a simple picture of an individual not fitting in: “You’re different from the luck ones. How can you stay in this place…this life?” The second verse alludes to the potential for bullying, as the subject has been keeping a private journal that has now beome public. The second verse also ends with the repeated themes of detachment noted above.
The bridge introduces several so-called nurturing and authority figures (parents and teachers), with a general perception of lacking emotional support (dominating father, detached mother, dismissive teacher). The bridge ends with the feeling that this must, in some way, undermine the subject’s personal self worth. The final verse, the most direct and disturbing reference to teenage suicide, is immediately followed by the repeated themes of detachment and a repeat of the final chorus. The entire song is made more touching and emotional by the accompanying keyboard chord progressions and cello arpegios.
