Crimson Studios is proud to announce a New Release | Stay by Doxter S. This is the 57th original song written by Doxter S and produced at Crimson Studios in McLean, Virginia. Now available for streaming on Spotify.

This beautiful love song in G-Major can be performed by either female or male lead. A piano provides the foundation. The cello and contrabass alternate legato and pizzicato. There is syncopation between the instrument voices.​

The instrumental intro, with piano, cello, and contrabass, is happy. The melody for the first and second verse, sung by Sara, is plaintive. Each verse has a tension building bridge. The second verse follows the first bridge immediately. (The original score separated them with a repeat of the intro).​

The chorus is commanding, strong, with a positive vibe. The use of the B-Major in a single phrase of the chorus adds unexpected urgency to the lyrics. (This production was transposed to D-Major, so F-Major provides the tension). ​

The first and second chorus are separated by a vocalized version of the intro melody. This is again upbeat, happy. The second chorus has different lyrics. Following the second chorus is a repeat of the instrumental intro. The song ends with a repeat of the first chorus on a happy note. ​

Details by Doxter S on Spotify is a Jazz-Blues song in Em that tells an ages-old story about the morning after – with a hangover of epic proportion. The instrumental phrasing alternates between keyboard and guitar. The rhythm is syncopated with the bass and piano echoing each other. The outro repeats the final statement of the chorus.

Oscar Wilde, the nineteenth century Irish romantic poet and playwright, is probably most famous for his novel “The Picture of Dorian Gray”. The Faustian story line relates to a full length portrait of the eponymous Dorian who makes a wish that his portrait would age instead of himself. ​

Dorian by Doxter S is a fantastical interpretation in music of this Gothic theme. Dorian appears at various times and places chasing after a dream-like companion. The mood is mysterious, the music intoxicating, and at the end Dorian and the music fades away.​

Butterfly by Doxter S on Spotify started out sounding like a nursery rhyme song. The opening melody is very fanciful and sweet. The quintessential nature of the butterfly is her transformation from caterpillar during metamorphosis. This transformation needed expression in music.

The Butterfly in this song continues her transformation into a human social butterfly. The melody also changes abruptly to reflect the new and exciting life she is seeking. The backing of the violoncello transforms into an overdrive electric guitar with percussion from a full drum set.

There has been a lot going on in the last 6-months. What seems to be an upheaval in societal relations may be part of a natural evolution of human thought. Better Days by Doxter S provides a musical representation of these troubled times.

The melody is in a minor key that adds pathos to the relevant lyrics. Despite the melancholy there is also great hope. The song begins and ends with the word “Pray”. There is hope fore redemption in this prayer. There is optimism for humanity.

“We were seated at a local Family Restaurant in McLean, Virginia and noticed the middle of the benches were higher. We laughed because we have a similar hump in the middle of our well used bed at home. I described it as a Mountain between us and we both laughed.”

“I decided that was enough to write a song describing the way couples can become separated even when they are together. This is a very soulful, melancholy love song that I sing with acoustic guitar.”
