Lyrics

Just seventeen, the handmaiden to The Queen
Was out strolling though the gardens of Tudor
Daydreaming now, she performs a royal bow
She is dancing at the ball with her suitor

She's twirling higher, higher, higher in the air
She's twirling higher, higher, higher lady fair

A lowly Squire is her object of desire, and she
Hopes that he will spy on her dancing
Handsome and bold, if the truth were to be told
He will be a knight one day, she must fancy

He'll take her higher, higher, higher in the air
He'll take her higher, higher, higher lady fair

Caught in her dreams, the young squire so it seems
Has arrived upon the scene with a stallion
A winged steed they both mount him as he kneels
All at once the three take wing like a falcon

They're soaring higher, higher, higher in the air
They're soaring higher, higher, higher Lady Fair

They're soaring higher, higher, higher than the trees
They're soaring higher, higher, higher than the clouds
They're soaring higher, higher, higher than the moon
They're soaring higher, higher, higher than the stars

Lyrics

You wake up from another party smoked and drank all night
Your head is spinning, ears are ringing, eyes can't stand the light
Remember music getting louder, dancing, doing lines of powder
Met a woman with her date. You got into a fight.

You had too many cocktails. You went too far. It's time for you to go.
The Devil's in the Details. She's pulling all the strings now. Don't You Know?

She may have been your soulmate, or your fantasy I guess
A curvy shape with lengthy legs wrapped in a satin dress
A pretty face with hair like flame, but you just can't recall her name
A sexy voice and flirting eyes, she made your mind a mess

You've fallen off of the rails. You won't get far. You don't know where to go.
The Devil's in the Details. She's pulling all the strings now. Don't You Know?

Instrumental

She's just another female. You've come this far. You don't have far to go.
The Devil's in the Details. She's pulling all the strings now. Don't You Know?

You try to find your pants and shoes you're in a strange hotel
Misplaced your keys and wallet and you start to feel unwell
There's water's running in the shower, shampoo scent of spice and flower
Just a silhouette of her you've fallen in her spell

Attempting to escape fails. But you're not trapped. You got nowhere to go.
The Devil's in the Details. She's pulling all the strings now. Don't You Know?

Masquerade by Doxter S on Spotify

Masquerade by Doxter S is now available for streaming on Spotify.

There was never a time in recent memory when everyone we know suddenly become phantoms, as we are to them. The entire world placed on a curfew, lock down, socially distanced and emotionally isolated. The impact of recent events will far outlast the so called invisible enemy of which we have become terrified.

Masquerade by Doxter S tells the story from an all too familiar perspective. We are all trapped but desperately crave freedom. The melody is sweet but the lyrics are biting. The chord changes build up to an emotionally charged bridge and defiant chorus.

Lyrics

When the music stops
Everybody dancing please just keep your mask on
Keep your gloves on
And just walk away

I don't want to talk
Really feeling distant from the life that I knew
Feeling so blue
Like to fade away

And every time I try to remember why I just can't hold back the tears
I think about the ways in the good old days when we never had such fears

Want to go back in time, we were doing fine, want to stay outside, let me feel the sunshine

We're Masquerading We're Isolating This social distance Is so frustrating
This is Degrading Not Liberating We're imitating We're Masquerading

Going for a walk
I am feeling social and I just want to talk
Take the mask off
Leave my hideaway

When the madness stops
Everybody living please just keep your head on
Make yourself strong
Everything's Okay

Recall the good old days With our social ways When we never had these fears
Let's all go back in time We were doing fine For so many, many years

We all can stay outside In the bright sunshine We'll be feeling fine We can write the headline

Stop masquerading It was stagnating The social distance Needs some updating
It was degrading Not liberating Let's put a stop to The masquerading

I want to stay outside don't want to hide I've got my life to live
With all the people I've been missing they have so much love to give

Anticipating our liberating the social distance is quickly fading
We are parading and serenading for human comfort that we are craving

We are not waiting we are creating the social fabric of our own making
Let's stop debating procrastinating let's put a stop to the masquerading

When the music stops
Everybody dancing please just take your mask off
Take your gloves off
Live your life your way

Music and Medicine: Doctor of Romance

Doxter S has been creating original lyrical songs for over 7-years. Doxter S occasionally makes connections between music and art with medicine and health care.  Doctor of Romance by Doxter S is a love song that illuminates the benefits of the artistic side of the brain. Art and music have, throughout the centuries, often included references to doctors and medicine. One famous artist often sought out medical help.

Music and Medicine

There are many places to find the connection between music and medicine. At Georgetown University School of Medicine there is a Medical Student Arts Collective promoting this idea.

Georgetown has always promoted the mixing of science with humanities in training new physicians. At leas it has has been that way since I started there, and it continues that tradition today.

There are other organizations in the area promoting the sharing of music to aid in the healing process. Musicians on Call organizes performers to go directly to the bedside of patients who need spiritual up-lifting.

Doctor of Romance by Doxter S is about poetry and lyrics. The attraction of the artist remains very strong in our society, and the point of this love song is to express that fact in the context of a romance.

Lyrics

You say you can't live your life without me
You think that love will bring you ecstasy
You tell me you will be faithful to me
For a Million Years
For a Million Years

I see your eyes always gazing around
for some new sweet thing that you think you've found
But your selection by nature was bound
By a Million Years
By a Million Years

For a Million Years For a Million Years
For a Million Years For a Million Years
For a Million Years For a Million Years

I don't believe I can hold you above
I’m not that person that you're speaking of
But if you wait for me I'll be your love
In a Million Years
In a Million Years
In a Million Years

In a Million Years In a Million Years
In a Million Years In a Million Years
In a Million Years In a Million Years
In a Million Years In a Million Years

Lyrics

 Every time I turn around
Everything’s turning upside down
Toys are flying in the air
Jackson the Dancing Bear

Jackson is a black Labrador
But he is so much more
Jackson’s a handful and a half
And he can make me laugh

Chase the Frisbee, catch the ball
Dragging his mattress down the hall
Rub my belly, scratch my ear
What an exhausting year

Jackson is such a funny pup
When is he growing up?
Tossing his toys into the air
Then there is Jackson’s hair

There’s a saying we all know
When we’ve drunk all night
Just drink the Hair of the Dog
Then you’ll feel alright

Eating breakfast all alone
I see a dog hair on my scone
In the kitchen on the stair
Everywhere there’s dog hair

We sweep the floors and vacuum too
But nothing seems to work
We give him baths and brush hit coat
Now one’s stuck in my throat

Jackson is a fur machine
Nothing ever seems to stay clean
Cleaning hair while Jackson plays
Now the maids want a raise

Just when I think the place is clean
He throws me for a loop
Ready to dine and then I find
Three dog hairs in my soup

There’s a saying we all know
When we’ve drunk all night
Just drink the Hair of the Dog
Then you’ll feel alright

Just drink the Hair of the Dog
My old friends would say
I’ve become a Dog Hair Fan
Drink them every day
