The quintessential nature of the butterfly is her transformation from caterpillar during metamorphosis. This transformation needed expression in music. The Butterfly in this song continues her transformation into a human social butterfly. The melody also changes abruptly to reflect the new and exciting life she is seeking. The backing of the violoncello transforms into an overdrive electric guitar with percussion from a full drum set.

The MASC Awards Night Gala was held on Sunday January 22, 2017 at Jammin’ Java in Vienna, Virginia. This was a wonderful event presenting many new singer-songwriters to the DC Metro area public. Dancers by Doxter S is a dance fantasy with a latin beat. This song evokes the nightlife in Buenos Aires, Argentina and the tango dancing that originated there.

Traveling through the mountains in western Virginia we were listening to local college radio from UVA. As we crossed to the western slope the station changed to a latin program from West Virginia entirely in Spanish. That was the inspiration for this song. Initially I wrote something more humorous with a Mariachi style. I placed that aside and reconfigured the melody into a Tango style instead. The lyrics and title are changed as well.

The singer recalls her experience as a tourist and the lasting impression that stays with her. She carries in her memory the dancers that so impressed on her the beauty and grace of the Tango. She dreams of herself becoming a tango dancer in Buenos Aires.

Dancers by Doxter S includes the traditional instruments used for the tango. The familiar Bandoneon is an essential component, along with latin percussion using conga, wood blocks, and tambourine. A cello and acoustic bass complete the instrumental support for this tango dance.

Amazing by Doxter S is an upbeat revival style song that echoes the traditional song Amazing Grace in one refrain, but has it’s own upbeat character that will bring the entire congregation to its feet. Everyone is familiar with the original Christian Hymn “Amazing Grace” written in the 18th century by Anglican clergyman John Newton. The inspiration for the lyrics was a near death experience sailing on a slave trade ship during a violent storm in 1748. He prayed to God for salvation and redemption and experienced an awakening of his religious convictions.

The melody, composed by American composer William Walker, sung in the Major Pentatonic Scale, later became a popular song used by the Baptist and Methodist evangelical preachers in the Southern United States. The tune is often played with Bagpipes at solemn occasions, such as funerals.

Vocal recordings of “Amazing Grace” became common, with Aretha Franklin becoming one of the more famous performers of this song.

Doxter S has taken inspiration from “Amazing Grace” to create a totally new and original song simply entitled “Amazing”. Sung by a choir, with instrumental accompaniment, Amazing by Doxter S picks up the tempo and lifts the spirit even higher than ever before possible.
