Flower Girl by Doxter S on Apple Music

Sometimes the inspiration for a song is a person, maybe a place, or a feeling, or perhaps a period in time. Flower Girl by Doxter S is all of these. The place is introduced in the first verse: “There is a town just south of Monterey”. Look at a map of the west coast of California and take a guess. The town has a long history going back centuries. The oldest Spanish Mission in North America is there. There is an artist colony. There was a famous Mayor. The person who is the subject of the song, “Flower Girl”, has come to this town from far away. Her mind is always far away as well. She may be a person born of a different era with different sensibilities. We learn that “Flower Girl” is “Stuck in a ripple of time” in pursuit of a lover.

There are many references to the ocean, ocean life (Sea Otters – who notoriously mate for life), and sailors (who notoriously don’t).
There are sailors out on the bay. A sailor wanders by the Flower Shop where she works. We just don’t know that “Flower Girl” is interested in a sailor. “Flower Girl” wants to be with someone who left her behind. “Flower Girl” is musically inclined, as she is depicted “gently strumming her guitar” while she sings to an unidentified man. “Flower Girl” is praying as the Mission Bell tolls when the love of her life finally appears. Suddenly we are taken back in time; as if only a return to this earlier historical period can resolve “Flower Girl’s” longing and desires. The Sea Otters swim an play.
Flower Girl was written by Doxter S, sung by a female lead, and was produced at Crimson Studios in McLean, Virginia in 2017.

Crimson Studios proudly announces a New Release – Mountain by Doxter S. This is the 62nd original song by Doxter S.

Listen to Mountain by Doxter S.

“We were seated at a local Family Restaurant in McLean, Virginia and noticed the middle of the benches were higher. We laughed because we have a similar hump in the middle of our well used bed at home. I described it as a Mountain between us and we both laughed.”

“I decided that was enough to write a song describing the way couples can become separated even when they are together. This is a very soulful, melancholy love song that I sing with acoustic guitar.”

Lyrics

There's a mountain, it's been growing in between for many years
Rising up with our emotions, made of sorrow, threats, and tears
I have tried to climb it many times to reach the other side
Where you lay in waiting silently inside a shell of pride

Well I know that mountain rises up because we stay apart
It's because I don't express myself, don't show what's in my heart
Had we spent more time together, in a lover's warm embrace
We'd be laying in the valley of a very fertile place

Our love can't redeem us. It's like
Mars approaching Venus
Like a spiral that keeps spinning in my head
Baby we got, maybe, we got time

I had not foreseen this, there's a
Mountain in between us
Like that hump that's in the middle of our bed
Babe we got a long long way to climb

Well I should have told you long ago, I should have found a way
I drew strength from you, the things you do, the gentle words you say
I was frightened by your honesty, your passion and your drive
I'm embarrassed by my cowardice with no will to survive

Even when I cannot speak, it's
when my spirit's feeling weak,
I bow my head and I begin to pray
Praying like a pilgrim at the wall

So we lay in silence, hoping
there's no pain or violence, I just
can't reach out to you in any way
Babe that mountain's grown to be so tall

Amazing by Doxter S on Apple Music

Amazing by Doxter S on Apple Music

Amazing by Doxter S is an upbeat revival style song that echoes the traditional song Amazing Grace in one refrain, but has it’s own upbeat character that will bring the entire congregation to its feet.

Everyone is familiar with the original Christian Hymn “Amazing Grace” written in the 18th century by Anglican clergyman John Newton. The inspiration for the lyrics was a near death experience sailing on a slave trade ship during a violent storm in 1748. He prayed to God for salvation and redemption and experienced an awakening of his religious convictions.

The melody, composed by American composer William Walker, sung in the Major Pentatonic Scale, later became a popular song used by the Baptist and Methodist evangelical preachers in the Southern United States. The tune is often played with Bagpipes at solemn occasions, such as funerals.

Vocal recordings of “Amazing Grace” became common, with Aretha Franklin becoming one of the more famous performers of this song.

Doxter S has taken inspiration from “Amazing Grace” to create a totally new and original song simply entitled “Amazing”. Sung by a choir, with instrumental accompaniment, Amazing by Doxter S picks up the tempo and lifts the spirit even higher than ever before possible.

Amazing by Doxter S uses pounding percussion, lively hand claps, a variety of spiritual verses, and unforgettable chorus sections. The church organ, electric bass, and electric piano join tied percussion section in support of the choir. The effect is, in a word, Amazing!

LYRICS

Lost but now I'm found
Oh how sweet the sound

I once was lost but I turned myself around
I was blind but all at once I can see
Amazing Grace you have given me a place
The entire human race destiny

Alleluia
Amazing Grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
Alleluia
I once was lost but now I'm found
I was blind but now I see

Saved a wretch like me
Blind but now I see

There is a spark that illuminates the dark
It lies deep within your heart set it free
A brilliant light so magnificent and bright
Like a beacon in the night all can see

Revelation
Jubilation

Lost but now I'm found
Oh how sweet the sound

Touched by the love of the presence from above
Gentle hand that reaches in to my soul
Amazing Grace I accept your warm embrace
Let my being become part of the whole

Saved a wretch like me
Blind but now I see

We're not alone You can feel it in the bone
Our salvation at this moment sublime
Raise you hands high praise the spirit in the sky
Seek redemption from the pure and divine

Revelation
Jubilation

Lost but now I'm found
Oh how sweet the sound
Saved a wretch like me
Blind but now I see

Alleluia
Ahh Ahh Ahh Amen

We are currently experiencing a revival of retro-style musical productions for theater and cinema. Some examples on Broadway are Chicago, Wicked, and Pretty Woman. On the big screen we saw The Entertainer, La La Land, and The Greatest Showman. This New Release, Da Boom by Doxter S, captures in music the rhythm and excitement of a big dance number. The descriptive lyrics take the listener step by step through a complete dance routine. You can’t resist the beat, you must pick up your feet, and dance the night away, until the day breaks Baby! Listen to Da Boom by Doxter S on Spotify.
Lyrics

Move to the beat, dancing to Da Boom, and swing it!

Shuffle your feet, prance around the room

Now let your arms do the work, swimming through the air

Then make your whole body jerk, shimmy everywhere

And when the beat gets fat, tip your hat, bow to the applause

Ba Da Boom

Stretch out a leg, let it touch the floor, then tap it

Don’t make it vague, let it tap some more

Rise up from down on your knees, spinning on your feet

Then put your hands in the air, waving to the beat

Now throw your head way back, make a laugh, dance arround the room

Ba Da Boom

Ba Da Boom, you get into the groove

The music fills the room, so let your body move

You can’t resist the beat, you must pick up your feet

And dance the night away, until the day breaks Baby

Ba Da Boom will change your attitude

It doesn’t matter whom, it puts you in the mood

With everyone you meet, you just pick up your feet

And dance the night away, come what may

Dancing to Da Boom

Ba Da Boom

Reach out a hand, any one will do, then snap it

At your command, dancing to Da Boom

Now spin around like a top, synchronize your move

The steady beat doesn’t stop, staying in the groove

Just like a chorus line, marking time, makes you want to shout

Nervous by Doxter S is one of 73 original songs produced at Crimson Studios. This pop style song could be sung acapella, however this production includes percussion, strings, and piano. There is asymmetry between the sequential verses and there is a substantial pre chorus. The instrumental backing for the chorus is minimal, as the lead and harmony together provide an orchestral presence. The chorus has a lively percussion accompaniment.
The story line of Nervous by Doxter S portrays a woman uncertain about her lover and their future together. She makes a reference that they are acting like spies. As is true for many other songs from Doxter S there is some gender ambiguity as we don’t really know who this song is for. For that matter, this song started out intended for a male lead, however it transformed into the female lead version presented here.

You make me nervous
You make me nervous
Keep your emotions hidden well
Under the surface
You get me rattled
Tongue tied and tattered
Then you just walk away like
None of it mattered
I feel like I’ve lost control
I’m stuck at the starting gate
Asking for help I say to myself
“Don’t hesitate, it’s getting late”
I’m running on your command
In search of some happiness
Wasting away, I spend every day
You know just which buttons to press
Life keeps on changing
My thoughts rearranging
I need some restraining
My feet on the ground
Nothing is certain
I draw back the curtain
Revealing the hurt and
The peace I have found
You keep on trying
To get me smiling
I haven’t smiled in many years
There’s no denying
You makes me crazy
Everything’s hazy
I should have left by now but
I’ve gotten lazy
I’ve lost my identity
I have nothing left to steal
Acting like spies I look in your eyes
Trying to feel anything real
I’m now starting to believe
My life is about to change
What should I do, I’m thinking it through
Things to arrange, Feeling so strange

Form a Line by Doxter S on Apple Music

Form a Line by Doxter S on Apple Music

This upbeat song has more energy and less sweetness (than my last wedding song) and will get everyone crowding the dance floor dancing vigorously singing and shouting along with the band. Listen here:

I wrote a song for a wedding this year [Everywhere by Doxter S] that was light and airy and sweet. I imagined the young newlyweds dancing to it. [on another planet]. The real wedding dances were very different and everyone was crowding the dance floor. They all knew the melodies and lyrics and sang along while dancing vigorously. I was impressed that a wedding song needs to have more energy, less sweetness, a simpler melody, and lyrics everyone would sing. After finishing this song I needed a title. I remembered John Travolta as the Angel Michael (1996) saying that when he first came to earth everyone was just milling around. Michael told them to “Form a Line”.
